My name is Nicholas Choi. I was born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
I wrote my first line of code at 16 when I wanted to create an online education platform.
I didn't get past the home page.
Then, I paid for a year of CodeCademy premium. It was $192.
I put maybe 20 hours into it.
I'm 19 now, and it's been a year since starting Computer Science at the University of Michigan.
And wow.
It's been a ride.
Since then, I've built a machine learning algorithm for forum posts,
A multiplayer game of Euchre,
And some robot with wheels which follows you around.
I also recently started an internship with Alliance Bank. I'm helping them build Southeast Asia's next Banking Superapp. It's been cool.
I've learnt to learn as I go along. And quickly.
But most importantly, the biggest thing I've built was finally getting that consistency.
And I'm proud of myself for that.
My interests now lie in full-stack development, and I'm passionate about emerging technologies such as XR, AI, and Web3. Now, I'm looking to conquer hackathons across the world's greatest schools, find communities of tech entrepreneurship, and deploy my first XR app. I've worked alongside incredible founders and innovators, and I can't wait to discover more of you.
